PROFIBUS® is an international standard for digital communication in industrial automation.

All PROFIBUS® devices within a PROFIBUS® segment communicate via the same bus cable. Therefore the installation of additional instruments to an existing fieldbus system is very easy with only little electrical installation work.

PROFIBUS® provides data communication from and to your PROFIBUS® devices. Devices providing several measurement quantities (e.g. mass flow, volume flow and temperature) can communicate them via PROFIBUS® without any additional installation. Also, device parameters as well as diagnostic information are transmitted via PROFIBUS® simplifying device configuration and forming the base for powerful Asset Management.

A fieldbus connection offers much more that a data interface to a field instrument.  It is the carrier of additional information from the field.
